Preparing for a wildlife assessment

Make your next conversation useful. Prepare the details that help define a clear, project-specific scope.

Observe from a safe distance

Note where noises occur, when activity happens and whether you can see an exterior entry point from the ground. Photograph signs without climbing, reaching into cavities or approaching an animal. Keep children and pets away from the affected area.

Share useful property details

Describe the building type, attic or crawlspace access and any recent roof or siding work. Record whether an opening was previously sealed and whether activity continued. Avoid closing a suspected entry before an assessment; animals or young may still be inside.

Ask about the complete approach

Discuss species identification, season and the possibility of dependent young. Ask how removal or exclusion will be performed, how other entry points are checked and what follow-up is included. Obtain a separate scope for contaminated insulation, cleanup and repairs where appropriate.

Agree on prevention and follow-up

A written quote should identify the openings addressed, materials used and inspection arrangements. Ask how the provider confirms the space is clear and what warranty terms apply. Keep photos and the completed scope for future maintenance.
